| | On THE September 11th our Emma was born. On that day, lives were turned upside down and changed forever. We had no idea that ours was about to also. All we knew was that we had a baby that was born with a dislocated knee. This was corrected with surgery when she was one month old, however, as time went by, she failed to grow or develop as a baby should. After much traveling and numerous specialists, we found out of Emma's Larson's Syndrome. We finally felt relief to have a diagnosis for Emma and it was time to move on.
When we were connected with Sagebrush, we were amazed by their certainty, enthusiasm and determination that they could help Emma. It was a therapy we had never heard of but were thrilled to be able to give it a try. Besides, who elso did we know that could brag that their two year old was going to be riding a horse! So, here we are less than four months later. Emma is blossoming! She has clearly improved in many ways. She has gotten stronger. She is becoming aware and in control of her environment. She has definitely realized that she wants to ride! We feel that this has given her pride and confidence.
Since Emma came into our lives Sam and I have experienced something seemingly impossible. She has made us re-evaluate what's really important in life. We have become better people as we have truly learned "unconditional love". Emma's determination to overcome is inspirational. We are very grateful to the Sagebrush staff for their strong help and support. Marie and Sam Cochran
